Associate Procurement and Supply Professional Kenya (APSP-K)

The course outline is aimed at supporting learners with knowledge, practical skills and attitudes that will enable them perform duties as Buyer, Supply, Chain Manager, Supervisor, Director or Consultant for any organization.

To achieve this objective, the inbuilt modules such as Costing and Budgeting, Finance, Leadership, Governance and Project Management are incorporated into the curriculum in addition to core supply chain modules.

The program comprises of four parts including a research paper, and has been benchmarked to international curriculum and practice and standards. 

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Professional Course in Supply Chain Management is packaged into four (4) parts namely:

  • Certified Procurement and Supply Professional PART I
  • Certified Procurement and Supply Professional PART II
  • Certified Procurement and Supply Professional PART III
  • Certified Procurement and Supply Professional PART IV

The course is concerned with the application of procurement, supply principles and solving Supply chain challenges in a dynamic environment.

GENERAL OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE

By the end of the course, the trainee should be able to:

  • Appreciate the importance of procurement and supply in an organization,
  • Execute procurement and supply process in an organization,
  • Apply ICT in Procurement and Supply process in an organization,
  • Effectively manage procurement and supply finance risks and documentation,
  • Establish procurement and supply audit framework,
  • Demonstrate knowledge and advice on mitigation of emerging issue in Supply Chain Management,
  • Appreciate the legal aspects in Supply Chain Management
  • Apply appropriate decision making tools in Supply Chain.

Individuals in Management should be able to;

  • Manage Procurement Projects
  • Apply research methodology principles, processes, theory and models in organizational problem solving Practice as a Supply Chain specialist/ consultant.

COURSE DURATION

The course is designed to be covered in 1,250 hours.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

A person seeking to be registered as a student for the CPSP examination must show evidence of being a holder of one of the following qualifications:

  • Pass in APS K, or Degree from a recognized university, or
  • Kenya Certificate Of Secondary Education (KCSE), mean grade C+ (plus) in with minimum C+ (plus) in English and in Mathematics, or
  • Kenya Advanced certificate of education (KACE) with at least two principles passes and credits in mathematics and English at Kenya certificate of education (KCE), or
  • Equivalent qualifications as determined by Kenya Institute of Supplies Management. (KISM)

Examinations

The APSP-K program will be taught exclusively at the College of Human Resource Management. KISM has partnered with KASNEB to offer and administer the exams twice in a year.

Attendance Modes

  • Sunrise        6.30 am  - 8.30 am          Weekday Dairy
  • Evening       5.30 am   - 8.30 pm         Evening Daily and class on Saturday
  • Full time      8.30 am   - 4.30 pm         Every day/Saturdays

Mode of Application

NB: To qualify for classes and exams, Membership & Exam Registration-Student to handle directly with KISM/KASNEB
